The Guarana Myth
As you may already know, guarana is believed to be a miracle food by Brazilian tribes and it is used to cure almost everything from bowel problems to headaches, weight loss, as well as energy loss. Obviously, the guarana fruit plays a very important role in Brazilian culture.
According to myth, guarana started being domesticated when a deity killed a beloved village child. The villagers were outraged, and, to calm them down, a benevolent god plucked the child’s left eye and planted it in the forest, resulting in the wild varieties of guarana. The god then plucked the child’s right eye and planted it in the village, thus domesticating the guarana plant. This myth explains the peculiar “eye-ball” look of the plant, and brings sentiment and meaning to the Brazilian tribes.
The Brazilian tribes then started using guarana and found out about its miraculous properties. They started making guarana infused teas as well as guarana infused cookies. Now, the guarana plant is found in soft drinks, a variety of foods, energy bars, as well as weight loss supplements. The weight loss supplement Guarana Blast was just introduced to North America and, already, hundreds of people have used it and lost a significant amount of weight.
