Guarana Background

As mentioned in the previous post, guarana can be found growing in Venezuela as well as northern parts of Brazil. The name guarana was coined after the Brazilian Guarani tribe. The Brazilians believe that guarana has very magical powers, being able to help with bowel movement cures, energy, good health, and weight loss.Guarana Plant

The original name for the guarana plant was Paullinia Cupana, which was taken from the German medical botanist C.F. Paullini, who discovered both the Guarani tribe as well as the guarana plant in the 18th century.  Guarana taste is very unique and distinctive, and is a very popular Brazilian soft drink. Guarana’s main ingredient is guaranine, which is chemically identical to caffeine.

Guarana is now widely manufactured in pills, beverages, chocolate bars and even gum. The properties of guarana are very good in helping with a number of things including weight loss, energy levels, and overall health. Just recently, guarana has been manufactured in a weight loss supplement pill form called Guarana Blast. It is the first and only guarana weight-loss product to date, and so far, subject results have been staggering, with an average weight loss of 24.3 pounds per person, over 45 days in a recent guarana study.
